Sept 2022 — Dec 2022
Friends of Jackson Park (FoJP), a non-profit organization, partnered with TBD*, a graphic design course specializing in impactful community project designs. Their aim was to enhance campaign effectiveness and establish a lasting donor recognition system for the renovated park.
FoJP is dedicated to fostering community support and advocating for a revitalized, well-maintained, and vibrant Jackson Park. They envision the park as a safe and enjoyable space for both children and adults, ensuring it serves future generations. They believe in the importance of open spaces in strengthening communities and in promoting the development of additional green areas near Jackson Park.
FoJP collaborates closely with Potrero Hill and surrounding neighborhoods, city agencies, private organizations, and park users to create an attractive and safe environment conducive to play.
Overview
These renders depict the future park, showcasing the envisioned open spaces, along with intriguing structures and artistic installations that aim to enhance the park’s appeal and functionality.
When we first met with Friends of Jackson Park, they presented us with visual, live imagery depicting the park's historical establishment and their vision for its future. They used renders to illustrate their concept of transforming the park into a bright, spacious, and enjoyable environment for the upcoming year.
Here are a few rough ideas of how the posters could look. We're taking a very typographic and dynamic approach, where shapes change and the imagery is bold and straight to the point. Our preliminary sketches aim to showcase people in the park being active, filling their figures with dynamic words.
"Meet us at our spot" further emphasizes the collective "we" and "us" concept of the park, reinforcing a sense of community. Incorporating abstract patterns of olive branches adds an artistic touch, while using green effectively highlights the park's natural elements and environmental focus.
These posters showcase a variety of activities that park-goers engage in. Using "We" statements reflects the collective community activities, while "I" statements personalize the experience for individuals, featuring handwritten elements to emphasize uniqueness. To enhance the vibrant approach, we considered incorporating even more bright colors, especially in the background.
In addition to these posters, we designed thank-you gifts and brochures that integrate various elements of the donor aspect of the campaign.
