Tazo Tea Box
Redesign an existing product to make the packaging more sustainable.
Brand Design, Packaging
Nov 2022—Dec 2022
The goal of the project was to redesign an existing packaging to enhance sustainability for both consumers and the environment.
The chosen package for this project is the TAZO tea box. Being a frequent buyer of this product, I have always appreciated its design, content, and quality. However, I noticed that it was inconvenient to use due to the difficulty in opening and closing the tea box and handling the tea bags. With this in mind, I proposed a solution: creating a reusable container with a tight seal, tailored for each tea flavor, and pre-opening the tea bags for immediate use.
Overview
This container, found in my local store, is advertised to securely seal various household items and foods, protecting them from outside air interference. I specifically chose this container for its wooden lid, which adds a natural touch to reflect the "natural" flavors associated with the tea brand.
When working with the new container, I opted to redesign the brand's aesthetics, drawing inspiration from TAZO's initial brand design. This original design incorporates elements of Old English typography and geometric play, emphasizing certain letters more than others. By comparing the two boxes, there was a noticeable shift from a traditional to a modern look. I was intrigued to see how merging these two elements would visually impact the final design.
