Resort to Reality
Brand Identity, Design System, Visual Design,
A brand focused on highlighting different aspects of a resort that allows guests to face reality head on.
Jan 2022—May 2022
Resort to Reality is not your usual luxurious get-away resort, rather, it pulls you in to face reality head on, with an open-mind and calming environment. With many aspects of nature and a simple breath of fresh air, a sense of balance will truly be reached.
Neutral colors decorating many plant like vines throughout different nature illustrations. Many aspects of nature and a wave of calmness washing over the guests, as it is bright, soothing, and peaceful.
Overview
After running into a few obstacles by using text and playing around with type, I decided to move away and go for a more symbolic path of my logo. Because I want my resort to be something that has longevity, I decided to work with ancient symbols as in today's world, they still make an appearance. With each ancient symbol, it is accompanied with the meaning and one of them happened to be exactly what I was looking for: the Runic Energy Symbol of Acceptance (top right).
After choosing this symbol, I played around with different stroke weights to create more of a rounded, softer look, rather than a lightning bolt. Ultimately, I ended up creating wave going through the circular shape. I really liked how it truly went with my subtle hint towards the idea of calmly going with the flow, also giving the look of Yin and Yang, showing the balance of evil and good, being a parallel for my idea of the guest balancing both expectation and reality.
By having a staple logo for 'Resort to Reality', I wanted to create two more logos for both the restaurant and the spa aspect of the resort/hotel. Using the same elements of the original logo, I gave the same smooth flowing treatment to the other two, creating the letter 'G' for 'GeoCuisine' and a close up of a wave, coincidentally creating the letter 'E' for 'Earthly Essence', respectively.
I had originally created one set of colors (bottom row) to focus on the nature aspect of my brand. However, after experimenting to inverted versions of these swatches, it made me think of how having a second set of colors would extend my palette and allow me to work with even more colors. These colors are very toned down and does not hurt the eyes, but bright enough to stand out and create contrast. A palette of shades and tints were also included to add dimension and possibilities of having more range with my future illustrations and concepts.
The illustrative system follows colorful, yet muted colors that represents the resort. The designs have a nature element to it to tie in the aspect of openness and free environment.
Throughout the different products and designs, an organic, line treatment is presented to tie everything altogether; although there are different products, the design is similar.
